2/4/2020 2nd Semester ChangesBy Devon Hiller2nd semester brings a lot of new and exciting things to our high school students but it also comes with some other, not so fun and exciting things. Some new fun things in the Ogden school district include that High school students now get to have personal Chromebooks. Another new addition is that Ogden high-school is now a one-to-one school. This means students get to have a Chromebook to take home and work within the classroom and do homework anytime online. Now that students will have a Chromebook accessible to them at all times this will hopefully reduce the amount of unfinished online homework. So far students seem to enjoy them and are happy the school is taking steps to help further our education. , But, while there are good things, there are always some ad things too! There have been a few new things added to the high school that made students a little unhappy. There is now only one lunch period for all four grades in the high school. In years past the lunch period at the high school was split into two sections, A lunch and B lunch. The change in lunch schedule was brought on by the new addition of a W.I.N. period, (What I Need). The middle school is up at the high school this year, and we have middle school teachers teaching high school classes. Last semester the W.I.N period was split as well as the lunch periods.he middle school had lunch and the high school had W.I.N, and then it would switch, W.I.N for middle school and then 5th period/lunch for the high school. Having middle school teachers teaching high school students found it difficult to help the students that needed to see them in W.I.N if they were at lunch or had to be teaching a class.. Because of these conflicts, the school decided to have the high school students eat at the same time and take away the two-section lunch period. Now the W.I.N period is altogether across the middle school and high school so any teacher is free at any time in case a student needs help. Students are getting used to having lunch together, but it has been a learning curve for the students at OHS. With all of these new changes in the high school, all of the students are hoping for a break from the movement!
