3/8/2020 Emmetsburg Extravaganza!By Hannah DutcherWhat a successful last go for the Ogden Bulldog Beat! This group of fantastic musicians had a great day filled with excitement, passion, and a set that drove the audience to their feet. A common theme among judges was how impressed they were with the quality of singing and passion the Bulldog Beat provides. They are performing at a very high level that makes Ogden proud. As a member of show choir myself, it’s easy to say that Saturday was a day I’ll remember for the rest of my life.
It is no surprise then that Ogden placed 2nd this Saturday at Emmetsburg! Congrats to the show choir and Mr. and Mrs. Huey-Jones for a great year. A great way to see the development from early to more advanced musicians, the parade of bands was a crowd pleaser. The high school band ended the program with Fanfare for the Common Man, Encanto, What’s Up at the Symphony (a Bugs Bunny tribute), and The Stars and Stripes Forever (a classic historical march). Thank you Mr. Britton for our fabulous band program!

It was a short and sweet concert filled with passionate musicians from your own Ogden High School. Senior Edward Chumbley said his favorite thing about jazz band was, “It has the coolest songs to play and it's something different than normal bands. It’s fun and challenging.” In regards to show choir, senior Hailey Clubine says her favorite thing about Show Choir is “The people you are surrounded by the atmosphere that just pulls you in.” Both of these activities provide students with a group of people who strive to perform and live out their passions. Thank’s Mr. Britton and Mr. & Mrs. Huey-Jones for the wonderful programs you have provided us with! The band gets up every-other day to rehearse before school hours to try to continue the life of a timeless genre of music. Jazz band pushes our students to be more diverse and to be better musicians with difficult time signatures, style, and improv. If you would like to support them, here are the upcoming shows. Keep up the great work OHS Jazz Band!
